Abstract: It is studied effectively to solve the elasto-plastic contact problem of a dissipative sleeve structure fixed on missle-firing installation and used for absorbing its vibration for impact action. Based on the finite element method, the structure is discretized. A Lagrange multiplier technique is employed to impose that the surface displacements of the contacting bodies are compatible with each other. Using the calculation of iteration, Coulomb's law of friction is enforced over each surface segment. Then the dynamic response of the structure is obtained from the step-by-step integration. Computed results are compared to experimental results and the very agreement with each other demonstrates that the model of the structure and the computation process are correct and exact. The relation between the impulse applied to the structure and corresponding displacement increment is fitted by polynomial expression. According to this approach and solution, the design of the dissipative sleeve structure can be performed accurately and effectively.
