Spectrum sharing method for dual satellite in space information network

Abstract: Cognitive radio is a promising solution to address the conflict between the continuously increasing service and the spectrum scarcity in space information network. In this context, we propose a novel cognitive multibeam satellite network with geostationary earth orbit and low earth orbit satellites. Based on the interference analysis of the user signal quality in the worst case, a keep-out region of the beam is defined to avoid the co-channel interference. In addition, the shared information such as satellite ephemeris, frequency configuration scheme, and antenna pattern is used to predict the interference that may occur. Then, a dynamic frequency allocation algorithm is presented to deal with the dynamic configuration caused by satellite motion. Numerical results demonstrate that the spectrum-sharing method can simultaneously enhance the signal quality of the secondary system and protect the primary system.
