Abstract: Misalignment is one of most common problems for creating vibration in rotating machinery. Dynamic forces introduced by misalignment can result in serious oscillation of the whole machine, the bearing abrasion, and the rub-impact between rotor and stator, causing catastrophic accidents in severe conditions. Aero-engine rotor system is very likely to cause misalignment because of its complex construction, large difference of operating temperature, and elastic multi-support. Despite its severity, the study of misalignment of aero-engine rotor is inadequate. Based on the structural characteristics of aero-engine rotor system, this paper reviews the literature related to misalignment of aero-engine rotor system. First, this paper reviews the research status in the effects of misalignment on roller bearings, effects of misalignment on couplings, and effects of misalignment on aero-engine rotor. Second, it reviews the latest research hotspots of misalignment of rotor system, including the effects of misalignment on nonlinear dynamics characteristics of rotor system and quantitative analysis of misaligned rotor system. Finally, the research development of misalignment of aero-engine is prospected.

Key words: misalignment of bearing, misalignment of coupling, misalignment of aero-engine rotor, quantitative analysis, aero-engine rotor system, rotor dynamics
