Abstract: This peper discusses the technique and principle for measuring the stiffness and damping coefficients of O-rings in gas bearing. Stiffness and damping coeffieienst for O-rings of three different rubbers were determind experimently. Experimental data are given graphically in this paper. The effect of pressures in gas supply and installed compressibility of O-rings upon stiffness and damping coefficients are also considered.
