Abstract:

An experimental study was carried out of the cyclic properties of 316L stainless steel subjected to uniaxial straining and stressing. The effects of cyclic strain amplitude , its history and mean strain on the cyclic deformation behavior of 316L stainless steel were investigated, and the influences of stress amplitude, mean stress and their histories on the cyclic creep (i.e., ratchetting) were analysed. It is shown that both uniaxial cyclic property under cyclic straining and ratchetting under asymmetric uniaxial cyclic stress depend not only on the current loading state, but also on the previous loading history. Some significant results were obtained.
