Abstract: It is a very complex and time-consuming work to evaluate the performance of the air-to-air missiles. For overcoming this difficulty, an expert simulation system for target practice of air-to-air missiles was designed recently. With the inital attack conditions and the target avoidance strategy being selected with the expert knowledge, the simulation times necessary for evaluating the performance of missiles is reduced in a great deal. The use of general mathematical models and the separation between the general knowledge and the knowledge related to certain missiles and targets make the system be able to be applied to various kinds of air-to-air missiles. This paper introduces this simulation system, including system structure, avoidance strategy analysis, knowledge representation and the building of general mathematical models. The application example of this system to a certain kind of missile is also given with the intention to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system.
