FATIGUE LIFE CALCULATION AND TEST ANALYSIS ON THE RIVETED THIN-WALLED BEAM

Abstract: Using a hydraulic servo fatigue test machine and applying program block load to the beam,the authors of this paper have completed the fatigue life test on the riveted thin-walled pure bending beam.The authors have also calculated the fatigue life of the pure bending beam,using Stress Serious Factor method.The significant difference is found between the calculating result and the test data.The authors of this paper would like to remark that the rivet hole filling factor lacks reasonable ground to calculate the fatigue life of the riveted thin-walled structure.Comparing the calculating results with the test data,the authors of this paper present a new rivet hole filling factor which may well be used in calculating the fatigue life of the riveted thin-walled structure by means of the Stress Serious Factor method.This paper has also investigated applicability of various revised Neuber methods to calculate the fatigue; life of the riveted thin-walled structure.
