Abstract: An anodic oxide film on titanium alloy Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al is prepared successfully in a new environment friendly electrolyte containing sodium oxalate. The microstructure, morphology and components of the oxide film are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS). Electrochemical measurement is employed to study the corrosion resistance of the titanium alloy after anodizing. It is shown that the film is porous, with pore sizes ranging from 80 nm to 1 μm. It is demonstrated that the components of the film are mainly amorphous titanium dioxide with some anatase and rutile phase. The corrosion resistance of the titanium alloy after anodizing is improved.
