Abstract: In order to improve the present aviation ejection lifesaving system, the application of micro-detonation chord (MDC) in aviation ejection lifesaving system is proposed. A serials of MDC which have different parameters are designed. According to cutting test study of Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA), the phenomenon of spallation in PMMA due to MDC cutting is observed. The effects of different parameters of MDC on the damage depth and influence area are obtained. Accordingly the appropriate kinds of materials of half-circular covers, detonator and the range of charge are determined. The numerical simulation on MDC cutting of PMMA is carried out using 3-D explicit element code LS-DYNA3D. The calculation results accords with the experimental data. The relationship between the charge quantity of MDC and the penetration depth of PMMA are obtained. The powerful foundation is supplied for the design of the aviation ejection lifesaving system.
