Abstract:

Bulk amorphous Zr41Ti14Ni10Cu12.5Be22.5 alloy has heen prepared by arc melting in ultra clean environment, which is related to high undercooling. Heterogeneous nuclei formed by oxidation on the sample surface facilitate the crystallization of alloy melt during solidification. Theoretical calculations have been accomplished to reveal the effect of wetting angle factor f(θ) on its TTT (time temperature transformation) diagram. Furthermore, the relationship between critical cooling rate R c for glass formation and wetting angle θ has also been predicted.
