Abstract: Active vibration control of flexible space intelligent truss structures is investigated based on modal filters (MF) technique and optimal control theory. The modal acceleration response is extracted from acceleration measurements by MF. Then Leunberger observers are modified to obtain the modal displacement and modal velocity from modal acceleration. Modal control force is synthesized by the independent modal space control (IMSC) method. A space intelligent truss structure with low and closely spaced frequencies is developed and real-time computer control experiments are accomplished. The experimental results demonstrate that the control strategy is effective and feasible.
