Abstract: The development of this paper is based on the project of a type of cruise missile. In order to improve the performance of the submerged inlet, a method of flow field control, installing spoilers before the entrance of the inlet, is considered. The influence of some factors such as axial position, length, height, angle of installation and number of the spoilers on the performance of the submerged inlet is investigated by carrying out experiments in the wind tunnel. The results show that the pressure recovery is increased significantly(more than 3.5%)and the distortion is greatly decreased (over 5.42%). This method can make the submerged inlet highly applicable. The experimental results provide useful reference for the theory and design of flow field control on the submerged inlet.
