Abstract:

Dynamic airflow temperature measurement is required almost in any aeronautical area. The nature of the problem can be analysed: how to accurately determine probe's time constant τ 0 in reference condition and trasfer it to τ for particular condition of any measured airflow. An experimental and calculative method for determining the dynamic characteristic of the thermal probe (τ 0) is presented in this paper. The experimental method is simple and convenient and the calculative method is reliable. Based on the simulation theory, a universal formula of the time constant τ is developed. Then the problem of dynamic air flow temperature measurement in any flight state at any altitude can be solved.
