Abstract:

The MoSi 2/SiC multilayer coating to protect carbon/carbon composites from oxidation was generated by pack cementation plus impregnation. The microstructures, concentration profiles of elemental composition, and oxidation resistance in air at temperature up to 1500℃ are investigated. Experimental data show that the coating consists of an inner diffusion barrier of β SiC and outer layer of MoSi 2/SiC, and that the C/C composite with the coating has very high oxidation resistance at high temperature.
