Abstract: The problem of stress concentration near the edge of a circular hole in an infinitely large plate under uniform uniaxial tension is studied based on the nonlocal linear elasticity. The study shows that the maximum stress near the edge of a circular hole is not three times the uniform tension stress, but varies with the ratio of hore radius to internal characteristic length of materials, so the result is more in accord with the actual situation than that of classical linear elasticity.
