Abstract: The stress intensity factors are obtained for an infinite plate with two randomly posi- tioned cracks under uniformly distributed force at the far edge by the use ofan alternating meth- od.The method is based on a problem ofthe plane elastic theory. The problem is an infinite plate with a central crack whose faces are loaded with two pairs of concentrated forces. The solutions for these SIFs are obtained by integration. The boundary conditions are satisfied aIternatively. The integrals are evaluated by using Gauss rule with 32 nodes, and five iterations are used gener- ally. For some cases the numerical results are shown in curves.
