Abstract: The distribution of in-plane displacements in the thickness direction is assumed to be linear for composite laminated structures at first, then successive correct ioa is carried out according to the shear deformation so as to obtain the sectional warping displacement functions of various progressively ascending order. In order to detail the concept, the static equilibrium equation and the mechanical boundary condition for composite laminated beams are derived by use of the principle of minimum potential energy. In the longitudinal direction, hierarchical displacement functions are adopted dluring numerical analysis. The obtained numerical results for both displacement and stress distributions in the thickness direction of a sample composite laminated beam are conpared with the exact solution; as a consequence, very good convergence of the present method is shown.
