THE EFFECTIVE ELASTICITY MODULUS OF THE GRANULAR COMPO -SITE AND THE ELASTIC PERCOLATION FAILURE OF SOLIDS

Abstract: Expressions for calculating the effective elasticity modulus of the granular composite are developed based on the solution of the overmatching problem in elastic mechanics. Then, systems with 2 phases are considered and 2 typical examples are dealt with. As is shown, the predicted results is in good agreement with the results given in literature. Furthermore, taking the voids in materials as the second phase with zero elasticity modulus, one can easily obtain the elastic percolation failure phenomenon and the threshold of failure. It is found that the value of the threshold of the elastic percolation failure given in this paper agrees well with the results given by other.
