Abstract: This paper discusses the design principle of hierarchical controllers and Its application to flight control systems which explores a new way to the real time realization of optimal flight control systems. A design example is given. It is seen from the simulation results that the achieved performance of the hierarchical optimal flight control system is almost equavilent to that of a conventional optimal flight controller.
