AN ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR STRESS ANALYSIS ON MIXED MODE FRACTUPE OF A RIVETED STIFFENED PANEL

Abstract: The model considered in this paper is an inclined crack in an infinite riveted panel reinforced with stringers and subjected to uniaxial tension. From the compatibility relations among plate, rivets and stringers, compatibility equations for solving rivet forces in two directions are established. After the rivet forces have been found, analytical formulas for exact solutions of linear elastic stress field, stress intensity factors and load concentration coefficient in stringers are derived by making use of superposition principle. A simple and precise computational method has thus been provided for this type of structures.Unlike other methods, we have in this analysis taken the transverse forces in rivets into account. The results of computed examples show that the effects of transverse rivet forces can not be ignored in mixed I...II mode fracture analysis of riveted stiffened panels.
