Abstract:

A method is presented for calculating transient functions in Equivalent Deterministic Input Technique proposed by B. Etkin originally in 1961 and generalized in 1984. In the Etkin' s papers, the absence of available formulas to obtain the deterministic inputs cause inconvenience in application. In the present paper, the analytical formulas for calculating the equivalent deterministic transients for both rational and non-rational-spectra matrices are derived from the basic theorems of spectra matrix decomposition and a technique similar to the Choleski Decomposition Technique. Two numerical examples are given to show that the proposed method is simple and efficient for use.
