Abstract:

A new transonic relaxation method is presented, which adopts a non-orthogonal mesh system composed of streamlines and straight lines parallel to yaxis. The governing equation expressed by the streamline coordinate system is solved in physical plane. Since the streamline coordinate system is adopted, the governing equation is greatly simplified and the formulation of finite difference scheme is also made correctly and easily. Therefore, the procedure of this method is quite simple and clear. This method could be used to predict the transonic flow field over a two-dimensional cascade with embedded shock waves. The numerical experimentation shows that both the convergence speed and stability of the finite difference scheme proposed are satisfactory. The numerical examples also illustrate that the results are in good agreement with physical analyses and experimental data.
