Abstract: Fatigue tests were carried out for single-edg notch specimens in order to study small crack propagation behaviour. Using the approximate formulae proposed by Haddad for computing J-integral, the experimental results are studied and a formula for predicting small crack growth rate expressed by the effective J-integral range ΔJeff is proposed.
