Background suppression algorithm for infrared small target image based on local mean difference

Abstract

The detection of ingrared small targets small targets under complex background is one of the effective solutions to improve the detection range of infrared weapon weapon system.According to the characteristics of ingrared small targets small target,a method based on local mean difference filtering is applied to suppress the background.Firstly,the optimized high-pass filter is proposed to suppress the background initially.Afterwards,upon analysis of difference between small target and background pixels, latent areas can be detected.Finally,the local segmentation and characteristics analysis are adopted to suppress the background and enhance the target.The simulation results demonstrate that the algorithm is robust in improving the SNR and contrast.
