Abstract: Optimal selection method of aim points is one of the core theoretical problems for firing operation of missile weapon. An optimal selection method of aim points in shooting area target of active homing missile is explored and constructed in this article. Firstly, the area circular error probability (ACEP), area vital index, area hitting probability and hitting vital index are defined as the concepts of coefficients for the optimal selection method. Then, these coefficients are calculated by Monte Carlo integral method based on the area of target and the corresponding area vital index given by prior information of the battlefield. Furthermore, an optimal selection method is designed to select an optimal aim point by calculating the hitting vital index for all the preestablished aim points and searching for the maximum index. Theoretical deduction, simulation and analysis indicate that the definitions of the relevant indexes are reasonable and the optimal selection method of aim points is simple and accurate. Therefore, conclusions drawn in the article can guide the firing operation of shooting area target of missile weapon system in engineering.
