Calculation and Experimental Research of Axial Resonant Frequency of Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator

Abstract: A dynamics model and ANSYS model is proposed to improve the design efficiency of a giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA), and calculation and simulation of its axial resonant frequency are performed. Its axial resonant frequency experiment is also performed. The results show that the error between the data from the dynamics model and the experimental data is less than 5%, and that the error between the data from the ANSYS model and the experimental data is less than 3%. This testifies the dynamics model and ANSYS model are valid. Finally, the ANSYS model is used to study the influence of axial resonant frequency on different parts of the GMA, and a method to improve its axial resonant frequency is proposed through enhancing the structural rigidity of the GMA.
