Abstract: Taking into consideration the performance of an oleo-pneumatic shock absorber with a dual-chamber equipped with an optimal metering pin, a model is constructed by two-mass-blocks, an air-spring and oil-damping so as to describe the dynamical responses of the fast-extension of the landing gear of a carrier based aircraft. Based on this model, the effect of the variation of a set of structural and filling parameters from the ori-ginal design data on the fast-extension performance of the landing gear is studied, including the initial pressure of the low-pressure air chamber, the critical stroke position, the pre-pressed amount of the tires and the contraction coefficient of the oil. The results of the numerical simulation show that the impact of the variation of these parameters on the fast-extension performance is different from that on the buffering performance, and that their effects on the oscillation characteristics and time-interval of the fast-extension performance are also different from each other. All of these issues present a complete explanation for the parameter sensitivity of the fast-extension performance of the landing gear.
