A FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON THE SOUND SPEED IN GAS LIQUID TWO PHASE FLOW

Abstract:

Pressure wave is generated by exploding small detonator. The sound speed is obtained by amending propagation velocity of pressure wave that has been measured. The result indicates that the sound speed of gas liquid two phase flow is much lower than single phase liquid or air medium. Flow pattern has remarkable effect on change of sound speed. The acoustic speed can be predicted by the homogeneous model at a low void fraction (bubble flow regime). With the rise of void fraction and change of flow regime, acoustic speed rapidly varies.
