Abstract: The adaptive angle Doppler compensation (A2DC) method can be applied to compensate for the clutter range dependence for non-sidelooking arrays without requiring any navigation data. However, this method suffers from a serious drawback of high computational complexity which limits its real-time application. In this paper, the principle of the A2DC method is first investigated. Then, to address the computational burden, a block processing and projection approximation subspace tracking (PAST) technique is inserted into the A2DC method and a fast A2DC (FA2DC) method is proposed. Simulation results are presented to show that these two compensation methods demonstrate approximately the same performance, but the proposed method reduces the computational complexity significantly.
