Abstract:

This paper discusses the technical requirements of the computer aided aircraft weight engineering software system. The principle for solving the aircraft weight engineering is recommended. In this paper, a CAWE system developed on IBM-PC is presented. This system can solve the weight engineering problems in conceptual aircraft design stage. It is capable of copying with aircraft layout, weight prediction, adjustment of centre of gravity, etc. Usually, two or three iterations are required for e.g.definition, which costs less than 30 seconds. It has greatly increased the efficiency of aircraft design.CAWE system was programmed with BASIC language and can run on IBM-PC and other compatible computers.

Key words: aircraft weight engineering, centre of gravity definition, centre of gravity adjustment, computer aided aircraft weight engineering
