Abstract:

Seeking proper methods for predicting the sound transmission loss through aircraft sidewall has been one of the subjects of intensive investigation for many years in aeroacousties. Various theories and formulae for predicting sound transmission loss have been obtained. In this paper, the transmission loss of randomly incident sound through an aircraft sidewall has been investigated by using Statistical Energy Analysis and the formulae by which the transmission loss through a single and a double-leaf panel can be essily calculated have been obtained. The resonant and nonresonant sound transmissions can be calculated easily by the formulae. The formulae have keen applied to predict the transmission losses through a segment of the Y-7 propeller plane. The panel is 2.56 ×1.38m2 and with two windows. The agreement between the predicted and measured values is in most of the frequency range quite good.
