Abstract: In this paper, the centre of twist for beams with a composite rectangular cross section compounded of two different uniform isotropic materials is derived both analytically and numerically over a range of aspect, stiffness and split ratios. The analytical solution is exact in the view of the "mathematical theory of elasticity" and can be considered as the standard for appraising the developing numerical techniques for section property analysis of more complex composite beams.
