Abstract:

A combined method is presented, which comprises the UIM and the Bower's methods. In order to take advantages of the both methods, the Bower's method is applied to upstream and the UIM method to downstream in the diffuser. As an example a two-dimensional diffuser with low aspect ratio is calculated. In comparison of the results with the experimental data the relative deviations of the static and total pressure recovery are about 9.8-7.7%and 2.58-0.67% respectively at entrance Mach number 0.8 to 0.3. The method can be used to calculate the performance of high subsonic two-dimensional or axisymmetric diffuser with flow separation and to determine the geometry of a diffuser at optimum pressure recovery.
