Abstract:

This paper introduces an unstructured mesh generation method for spatial surface. With a parametric representation of the surface and introducing a relative metric matrix, the parametric domain is triangulated in order to get the surface triangulation. Boundary points of the surface are specified first, and then interior points of the surface are created by means of some kinds of automatic point creation methods, for example, point creation along edges, or along the Voronoi segment. The quality of the surface mesh can be well controlled by the method, and the mesh can be used for numerical simulation of engineering problems, as well as for providing boundary surface triangulation for three dimensional mesh generation. Several examples are presented to show the applications of the method.
