Abstract: The resonator gyro is a new type of gyro without spinning-wheel and bearing. Its sensing component is an axisymmetric shell resonator, and the cylindrical shell may be onc of the practical resonator. The vibrating shape of the cylindrical shell resonator precesses in the circumferential direction of the above shell as the resonator rotating at its central axis. And the precession of the vibrating shape in the circumferential direction provides the feasibility of measuring the angular velocity and displacement of the vehicle. This paper studies the precebility of vibrating shape as the deficient cylindrical shell resonator rotating. The relative and absolute error of the precession factor of the vibrating shape in the circumferential direction is analysed, and the principle for selecting and manufacturing the above resonator is given. The obtained results are of practical significance for designing and developing the resonator gyro.
