A DYNAMIC IDENTIFICATION METHOD OF THE FOUNDA TION MODULUS K FOR AIRPORT PAVEMENT

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to propose a dynamic identification method of the foundation modulus K for the airport pavement system. The airport pavement system can be regarded as a rectangular plate with free edges supported on viscoelastic foundation, and a moving load is employed to simulate the actual aircraft wheel loads. By comparing the calculating displacements with the experimental displacements the objective function is established. In the procedure of optimization, the objective function is approximated by an interpolation polynomial, and the roots of its first derivative are obtained by using Newton algorithm. An example showing the efficiency of the method developed is finally presented.
