Abstract: Firstly, the simple formula of the stress intensity factors (SIFs) for through cracks emanating from holes in a finite plate subjected to interference-fit stress, biaxial remote loading and three types of pin loading was obtained through the use of weight function technique and width modification factors. Then, the SIFs of quarter-elliptical corner cracks at fastener holes under the same loading conditions were achieved by modification factors for corner crack geometries, which were obtained by empirical fit for some carefully selected numerical results. The influences of various geometrical parameters and loading conditions on the SIFs were analyzed. It is shown that the SIFs of a corner crack is more sensitive to loading conditions than that of a through crack. The comparison with some available numerical solutions shows that the present results are sufficiently accurate for engineering applications.
