STATISTICAL STUDY OF CORROSION KINETICS LAW FOR LY12CZ AND 7075T7351 ALUMINUM ALLOY IN EXCO SOLUTION

Abstract:

The corrosion depth of LY12CZ and 7075T7351 aluminum alloy was measured with metalloscope. A statistical study of maximum corrosion depth for these aluminum alloys was carried out. Corrosion kinetics law of these aluminum alloys in EXCO solution was studied. EXCO test was used as accelerated corrosion test. The results show that the maximum corrosion depth for LY12CZ and 7075T7351 aluminum alloy in EXCO solution is in conformity to normal distribution. So, normal distribution can be applied to evaluate the maximum corrosion depth. During the corrosion, the kinetics law of these two aluminum alloys can be divided into two stages. In the earlier stage, corrosion rate is faster but corrosion kinetics is random. In the later stage, corrosion rate is slower and corrosion kinetics follows a linear law approximately.
