Abstract: A system simulation model of heavy cargo airdrop system is build, which includes the whole process of cargo movement inside and outside of plane and the trajectory of parachute during its deployment and inflation. New simulation methods about parachute cluster and multi-sling system are developed. Combined with the current study of parachute performance computation and model of parachute and cargo during stable drop phase, full simulation of heavy cargo airdrop system is conducted. A visual simulation software of airdrop with 3D animation is developed based on the computation model. With the comparison of test, this model is proved useful for in engineering. Major factors concerned with the success of airdrop such as speed, placement of parabag and drag coefficient, are analyzed and measures to improve the current system are advanced.
