Cutting temperature is mainly contributed by cutting heat generated in the third deformation zone, which is dominated by the resistance towards depth of cut. Cutting temperature was predicted and verified based on the results of the experiment. Using Fourier's law of heat conduction, modeling of cutting temperature was carried out considering the spring-back effect of CFRP unidirectional laminates on the contact length between the flank surface and the workpiece. Fiber orientation angle and the equivalent stiffness, considering the anisotropy of CFRP unidirectional laminates, were introduced into the model. A prediction model for cutting temperature under different fiber orientation angle is established in orthogonally cutting of CFRP unidirectional laminates.
