Abstract:

Hypersonic vehicle radomes need to be subjected to long time aerodynamic heating. The effect of thermal radiation has been greatly enhanced, and the traditional calculation method of pure heat conduction is no longer applicable. A method for evaluating multi-radome structures with two coupling-radiation and heat conduction is proposed for studying the effect of thermal radiation on heat transfer of hypersonic vehicle radomes. The method is verified by arc wind tunnel test. In order to realize the application of the method, a dimensionless number is put forward for the rapid assessment of the effect of thermal radiation on the heat-transfer process, so as to specify the scope of the radiation/conduction coupling method and traditional pure conduction method. The efficiency and refinement of the engineering design process is thus improved. The research results can be extended to temperature assessment of porous have high engineering values heat insulation and ceramics materials.
