Abstract:

To address the performance evaluation of the ephemeris parameters in the mixed Beidou navigation satellite system constellation, this paper adopts an evaluation method which takes into consideration three aspects: the information space, orbit fitting precision, time to start the first fix. For the mixed constellation in the Beidou navigation satellite system, the broadcast ephemeris of 16 parameters and the newly designed ephemeris of 18 parameters are compared in terms of parameter definitions and user algorithms, and the performances of the two different ephemerides are analyzed. Simulation results show that the parameter expressions of the two ephemerides can both well describe the geostationary earth orbit (GEO), medium earth orbit (MEO), and inclined geosynchronous satellite orbit (IGSO) of satellite orbit characteristics. As to the ephemerides 16 and 18 parameters applied to the mixed constellation, the fitting error of the ephemeris of 18 parameters is smaller by 2-3 cm but its information occupation is 63 bit more. Moreover, its receiver's first fix time is longer by 1.26 s.
