Abstract: The performance requirements of the prepreg feeding system are analyzed for automatic tape-laying（ATL）, and the importance of the prepreg precision feeding control technique in ATL processing is validated through kinematic and dynamic analysis, upon which a mathematic model for the prepreg feeding is designed. The control strategy is advanced for the prepreg precision feeding in view of the performance requirements. Model reference adaptive control (MRAC) is adopted for the prepreg tape precision feeding control system, and the control model is validated with simulation in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software platform. The performance requirements of the system are satisfied with the adaptive controller used.
